About

AI judgment built on six years of the real thing.

I'm Ray Festa, the founder of RF Digital. I spent six years at AWS designing how people supervise AI agents inside the systems Fortune 500 companies and government agencies run their operations on. RF Digital is my focus now.

Who I am

I'm a product designer. For six years at AWS I worked inside some of the most complex software enterprises run, the database and data-infrastructure systems Fortune 500 companies and government agencies depend on every day. My job was designing the interfaces that let people trust software, and increasingly AI agents, with decisions that actually matter.

That's the qualification behind RF Digital. Not commentary on AI adoption, but years of designing it for organizations where the margin for error is enormous. The judgment calls at that scale, what runs unattended, what escalates, and what a person needs in front of them to answer, are the same calls that decide whether any system is worth running at all.

RF Digital exists because the gap is widening. Inside large organizations, teams argue about evaluation, escalation paths, and what an agent is allowed to finish without asking. Everywhere else, the same problems get answered with a subscription and a promise. The difference shows up the first time a model is confidently wrong about something expensive.

Designing and building AI systems end to end: the client-facing layer, the automation behind it, and the oversight that decides what a model finishes on its own.

Why this, why now

What is actually hard about this

AI is changing how organizations operate faster than most have had time to adjust to. Six years inside that shift gave me an early, unfiltered view of where it is actually heading: not the hype cycle, but the practical change in how decisions get made, how work gets divided between people and software, and what it takes to trust either one with something that matters.

Enterprises are already living this shift. Everyone else is being sold the demo version of it.

The hard parts of this work are not secret. They are evaluation, escalation design, failure handling, and knowing what a model should never be allowed to finish on its own. Those disciplines are practiced inside large organizations and almost nowhere else. RF Digital exists to bring them out, without the consultancy layer, the jargon, or the loss of control over decisions that took years to earn.

I also like teaching this. If AI adoption is going to decide which organizations compound over the next decade and which get left behind, I would rather spend my time helping people I respect land on the right side of that than watch it happen to them from a distance.
